Can’t believe that everything’s almost over already. After regionals Saturday, which there is essentially no chance of us advancing past (although we are still going for the 70-point Gold range for the first time) the band season comes to a dead stop. I’m going to be so lost in about 3 days when there is suddenly nothing going on.what the hell for real? thats insane dawg. we practice till forever, im heading to practice now
Well, we’ve been going since July. But we only practice on Mondays and Thursdays because we believe that there is more to life than just band. And since Saturday is Indiana’s regional level contest, and we are not good enough to beat the really good, really huge, really high-scoring bands and get into the top ten in order to go to semi-state (they score in the 80s, our scores this year, in order, have been something like 61.5, 52.3, and 64.2 and we’re just happy that we might pop over 70 for the first time in 15 years) this is the end of the line.
shit man we’ve been practicing since june and we have practice monday wednesday thursday friday saturday hahha. but we always score in the 80s and above and our regonial arent for like a couple weeks.
I guess we’re just comparatively laid back. But on the plus side while our marching band doesn’t score crazy high, it does well enough to keep us in the running for this thing called the All Music Award which we have won 2 years in a row (and each time was only one of 3 schools in the state to win it) for having EVERY SINGLE music group in the school getting gold awards at certain leveled events. Because we don’t focus solely on the marching band, we are able to balance our programs’ attention and budget and also not burn out the kids so that is possible.
Anyway, well, the practice is over now. It was below freezing and started raining so they had us go inside half way through and switch to music rehearsal. After practice was a nice conclusion to practices, though. I rambunctiously ran around the band room with some friends as we played catch with an extremely bouncy marble. And then used parts from a broken vibes set as mock shotguns. It was rather out of the ordinary and fun.
Now nothing awaits but the last performance…
